Hello from Wendy and Matt - we’re the co-founders of The Foil Invite Company. As graphic designers, we’ve always had a penchant for simple, elegant designs with a tactile printed finish. In this world of emails, a tangible invitation with a personalised message catches one’s attention, sets the tone for a special occasion, and becomes a meaningful, lifelong keepsake. An authentic, hand-printed element adds a unique style, and that’s why everything we do aims to assure our traditional printing method continues to thrive in the digital age.
We discovered the artisan craft of foil printing in 2011, when we had the honour of designing the wedding invitations for Wendy's brother's big day. Foil’s delicate shine seemed ideal for a luxury finish, so we set about finding a printer that could offer the exceptional quality we needed. Alas, at that time, there was nowhere to be found. Not wanting to compromise, we bought a vintage hot foil press to hand-print them ourselves, and The Foil Invite Company was born.
A lot has happened since then. We got married in 2015. Our team expanded as we welcomed Annie (designer), Joe (web developer) and Ali (writer). Together, we were delighted to win Stationery of the Year at the North-West Wedding Industry Awards – twice – before going on to win Best Wedding Stationery and Best Website at The National Wedding Industry Awards in 2017.
Countless wonderful weddings and events have had the foil stamp over the years. We’ve created a distinct selection of wedding stationery designs, as well as numerous bespoke wedding invitations. Our supply your own design service connects us with designers across the world, also seeking the perfect finish for their wedding invitations. Recently, we handprinted some special invitations for the royal visit to Chester’s Storyhouse, and our designs have been seen on the ITV Soap Opera Awards’ red carpet for two years running.
